“Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five, sentenced to death on accusation of blasphemy, waiting for her appeal in Lahore High court against death sentence in Seikhupura District jail in Punjab province of Pakistan, is scared in her high security jail cell” said Zeba Gill, President of PCA in an exclusive interview.
Zeba Gill, President of Pakistani Christians Association in USA with its headquarters in New York, was visiting Pakistan in month of March 2012, where she met Asia Bibi in Seikhpupura District jail.
There have been frequent attempts by Pakistani Christian leaders and foreign delegates to visit Asia Bibi in jail but none was permitted to meet her by Home Secretary of Government of Punjab after assassination of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer who was gunned down by his police bodyguard in Islamabad on January 4, 2011, on allegations of visiting a blasphemer Asia Bibi.
It is on record that after assassination of Salman Taseer, the Punjab government not ever permitted federal minority minister in government of Pakistan, Shahbaz Bhatti who was also later gunned down by Tehreek Talaban Punjab TTP on commenting against blasphemy law in capital Islamabad on March 2, 2011.
Asia Bibi is permitted to meet her husband and daughters once a week by home department of Punjab, but Asia Bibi told Zeba Gill that she have asked her family to visit her once a month only due their safety and security.
Zeba Gill revealed to Pakistan Christian Post that high officials were present during her meeting with Asia Bibi and she was not expressing her true situation in jail.
“Asia Bibi is so scared in jail that first she refused to meet me and I have to wait for 20 minutes to revise her decision in waiting room of Seikhupura jail” told Zeba Gill
Zeba Gill said that during her meeting Asia Bibi told that she starts her day with prayers and is hopeful that she will released from jail after hearing of her appeal in LHC against her conviction to death by Session Courts.
“I miss my daughters and daily pray for their safety” told Asia Bibi to Zeba Gill
Zeba Gill told PCP that Asia Bibi informed her that she cooks her own food in jail and permitted to come out of her security cell for few hours daily.
Asia Bibi, especially asked Zeba Gill to thanks everyone around globe and in Pakistan who are supporting her family in such difficult situation. (April 2012 Pakistan Christian Post)
Do not proscute the woman because of her religion,remember this world is not yours it is the world of God so why are you pretanding as if you are holy but you are not? time is coming when the Almighty God will going to punish all who did this
